meets with Czech Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Martin Stropnick.
Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi met with Czech Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mark Zhao on the 14th during his attendance at the Munich Security Conference. Wang Yi stated that China and the Czech Republic have a friendly tradition, and the Czech Republic was one of the first countries to establish diplomatic relations with New China. However, in recent years, the China-Czech relationship has experienced ups and downs, which is not in the interest of both sides. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Czech strategic partnership. China appreciates the Czech Republic's new government's active efforts to improve relations with China, and is willing to work with the Czech side to push China-Czech relations back on a healthy development track. Wang Yi hoped that the Czech side would have a correct understanding of China, earnestly abide by the One China principle, and respect China's core interests. Both sides should encourage exchanges at all levels and in all fields, enhance mutual understanding and trust, and based on this, carry out practical cooperation to make up for lost time.
Mark Zhao stated that China is a powerful country in the world. The Czech side values the traditional friendship between the Czech Republic and China, and looks forward to using the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the strategic partnership between the Czech Republic and China as an opportunity to open a new chapter in bilateral relations. The Czech side firmly adheres to the One China policy, recognizes that the People's Republic of China is the sole legal government representing the whole of China, and respects and supports China in safeguarding its sovereignty and territorial integrity. The Czech side looks forward to improving relations with China, restoring high-level exchanges, and promoting cooperation in various fields such as economy, trade, tourism, and culture.
