Spring Festival peak witness Sino-German cooperation resilience.
The Chinese Lunar New Year is approaching, and the port of Hamburg in Germany is bustling with activity. "Before and after the Spring Festival, a group of cargo ships from China will gradually arrive, and the cargo ships are basically fully loaded. This is also a small peak in freight transport," said Lin Zhengxi, general manager of COSCO Shipping Germany, to our reporter. As one of the most important logistics gateways connecting China and the European hinterland, the port of Hamburg is the core gateway for Germany's trade with China, with about 40% of Germany's trade with China passing through the port of Hamburg. "China is Hamburg's largest and most important trading partner," said Matthias Schulz, media director of the Hamburg Port Marketing Association, to our reporter. German-Chinese trade has continued to grow in recent years, with Hamburg's container trade with Germany and China increasing by 7.9% in the first 9 months of 2025, reaching 1.8 million TEUs.
