Ministry of Finance and seven other departments: science and technology museums and other units can import tax-free popular science equipment and devices.
The Ministry of Finance, the General Administration of Customs, and the State Administration of Taxation jointly issued a notice on the management measures of import tax preferential policies to support the development of popular science during the "Fifteenth Five-Year Plan" period. The notice pointed out that the Ministry of Science and Technology, together with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Finance, the General Administration of Customs, the State Administration of Taxation, and other departments, have formulated a list of duty-free imported goods of popular science equipment and exhibits that cannot be produced domestically or meet the required performance standards. Units such as science museums that benefit from the policy must also meet the conditions of being specifically engaged in public-oriented popular science activities. The notice will be implemented from January 1, 2026, to December 31, 2030.
