Organization: Chinese Smartphone Sales in January Decreased by 23% Year-on-Year, Apple Grew Against the Trend.
Market research firm Counterpoint Research said on Thursday that smartphone sales in China in January fell by 23% year-on-year, mainly due to the high base in 2025 and the adjustment of Spring Festival promotion time. The firm pointed out in a report that Chinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei still maintains its market leading position, despite a 27% year-on-year decline in smartphone sales. The report also added that domestic brands generally experienced double-digit declines in January, with Xiaomi experiencing the largest drop of 36%. Apple is the only major brand that achieved year-on-year growth, with its sales in China in January increasing by 8%, and the iPhone 17 series maintaining strong momentum.
