On February 12, local time, United Nations Secretary-General Guterres issued a statement saying that the United Nations General Assembly has appointed 40 members to the newly established "Independent International Scientific Group on Artificial Intelligence", each serving a term of three years. Song Haitao, President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Shanghai Institute of Artificial Intelligence, and Wang Jian, a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and an expert in cloud computing technology, were elected as two Chinese scientists.
