Ultraman talks about Musk: I think it's absurd that he spends so much time attacking us.
More explosive than Anthropic's departure, is OpenAI's decision to restructure its organization and establish a for-profit department. This move allows OpenAI to operate like a regular company, receive external investments, including the crucial $13 billion investment from Microsoft since 2019. Musk strongly opposed this decision and angrily withdrew, holding no shares in the for-profit entity. Rumors of conflict between the two sides continued. In the lawsuit, Musk claimed that he left because OpenAI abandoned its original goal of "benefiting humanity" and instead pursued profit maximization. OpenAI countered that Musk left because the company did not allow him to control the for-profit department. Musk quickly launched a competitor, xAI, in 2023, which is currently valued at $250 billion. The case is expected to go to trial this spring. "I didn't want to spend so much time on this, but I have confidence in our position," said Altman. This restructuring caused Musk, Altman's former idol, to become enemies. Musk then launched a competitor to ChatGPT through xAI called Grok. This AI model, which claims to "pursue the truth," has been controversial, spreading false statements about "white genocide," calling itself the "mechanical Hitler," and generating images that appear to be underage pornography. "I hope they can change their approach. It's ridiculous that he's spending so much time attacking us," Altman expressed dissatisfaction with Musk's accusations that OpenAI does not prioritize safety, "they themselves have been troubled by these issues continuously."
