The overall size of the Byte Chip team has recently expanded stealthily to over a thousand people. Informed sources revealed that Byte's AI chip team and CPU team have a large number of employees, with over half of them in the AI chip direction, totaling over 500 people, and the CPU team has around 200 people. With the urgent demand for computing power, Byte has increasingly focused on the chip business, and recently underwent a round of team adjustments. The head of the Byte chip, and Technical Director of the "Data-System" department, Wang Jian is no longer in charge of the Byte chip business. It is understood that Wang Jian joined ByteDance in 2016 and is also one of the responsible persons of Byte's Open Source Committee. In the Byte chip team, the heads of the AI chip and DPU teams are Shi Yunfeng, and the head of the CPU team is Yu Hongbin. Originally, both reported to Wang Jian, but with Wang Jian no longer in charge of the chip business, Shi Yunfeng and Yu Hongbin will now report directly to ByteDance's Vice President and Head of the Volcano Engine Business, Yang Zhenyuan.
