On the afternoon of February 9th, the reporter visited the Lotus Global Intelligent Factory located in the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone. Led by Zhao Song, the deputy general manager of the Lotus Global Intelligent Factory, it witnessed the UK King's new vehicle - the Lotus Eletre, being rolled off the production line. This is the first ultra-luxury electric SUV under the Lotus brand, and also the world's first pure electric supercar SUV. In late January, the customized version of the Lotus Eletre purchased by King Charles III of the UK made its debut at the Sandringham Royal Estate in Norfolk. 98% of the components of the car are from China, with 64% coming from local suppliers in Hubei Province. The power battery comes from CATL, the electric control system is developed independently by Lotus, and other suppliers such as Dongfeng Leer, Wuhan Huaye, Wuhan Aiji, and Wuhan Top provide components. Technicians and assembly personnel from the Lotus Global Intelligent Factory went to Norfolk, UK, to carry out assembly and testing together with the local Lotus factory. Lotus is a world-renowned sports car manufacturer, founded in 1948, and is one of the three major sports car brands in the world. Currently, Lotus has two production bases: one is the Lotus Car Hethel Factory in Norfolk, UK, focusing on the production of pure sports cars; the other is the Lotus Global Intelligent Factory in the Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone, specializing in the production of SUVs and coupe models for home use in response to the trend of electrification and intelligence in the automotive industry. In addition to the Lotus Eletre, the factory also produces the Lotus luxury sports sedan EMEYA Fuhua, and will soon introduce a new Lotus brand PHEV hybrid SUV model "For Me" this year.
