European Union finance ministers plan to discuss enhancing the use of the euro in transactions to strengthen its global status.

Eurozone finance ministers will discuss options to promote the use of the euro in issuance and trading, as one of the measures taken by the group to enhance the global role of the euro and demonstrate Europe's financial independence. Documents prepared by the European Commission for the finance ministers' meeting point out the need to re-establish dialogue with key industry participants in energy, critical raw materials, aviation, and defense sectors, reassessing the possibility of using the euro more in invoice issuance, pricing, public procurement processes, and payment preferences.
