Beijing introduces special policies to support the improvement of the international consumption environment.

The Beijing Municipal Bureau of Commerce has issued a notice on the application for the construction fund projects for the internationalized consumption environment in Beijing. It proposes to support areas such as business districts, shopping streets, shopping malls, grade-A tourist attractions, sports venues, comprehensive transportation hubs, etc., to optimize and enhance their international service capabilities, including multilingual signage, smart translation services, foreign card payments, tax refunds for departing tourists, luggage storage, etc. For qualified business districts, a comprehensive evaluation will be conducted based on factors such as the number of businesses in the area, the number of tax refund stores, the coverage rate of tax refund stores, the coverage rate of foreign card POS merchants, the coverage rate of multilingual signs, the presence of luggage storage facilities, and the availability of multilingual interface apps. A maximum reward of up to 3 million RMB will be granted based on the score received.
