Estee Lauder sues Walmart, accusing it of selling counterfeit products.
Este Lauder has filed a lawsuit against Walmart, accusing the retailer of selling counterfeit versions of some of the cosmetic company's perfumes and skincare products. The lawsuit was filed in a federal court in California, alleging trademark infringement and false origin labeling by Walmart. The lawsuit claims that products sold by Walmart on its website have brand markings that are identical or substantially indistinguishable from some of Este Lauder's brands, such as Le Labo, Clinique, La Mer, Tom Ford, and Aveda. A spokesperson for Walmart stated that the company has taken note of the lawsuit and has a zero-tolerance policy towards counterfeit products. The spokesperson said, "We will respond appropriately to the court after receiving the subpoena." The lawsuit seeks an injunction from the court to prevent Walmart from selling the alleged counterfeit products and seeks monetary compensation.
