The parent company of MoneySuperMarket.com saw a sharp decline in its stock price after competitors launched services on the ChatGPT app.
The stock price of Mony Group, the parent company of Moneysupermarket.com, has dropped to a 12-year low, as Insurify, previously based in the US, has launched a car insurance price comparison service using OpenAI's ChatGPT application. Mony's stock price fell by 13% to 144.90 pence, hitting a low of 137.90 pence during trading. Future, the parent company of Go.Compare, saw its stock price fall by 4.1% to 438.60 pence. AJ Bell's market analyst Dan Coatsworth wrote, "It makes complete sense to obtain insurance quotes through ChatGPT, as many people are now using chatbots to access information about products and services." Coatsworth suggested that price comparison websites may need to consider embedding their services into ChatGPT, or offering greater incentives to potential customers in order to compete.
