United Nations official: Nearly one hundred civilians have been killed in attacks in the Kordofan region of Sudan over the past two weeks.
On February 9th, local time, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Turk, stated that in the past two weeks, the Kordofan region in central and southern Sudan has been continuously attacked by drones, resulting in approximately 90 civilian deaths and 142 injuries. Turk said that the targets of the attacks included convoys of the UN World Food Programme as well as civilian facilities such as residential areas, markets, and medical institutions. He urged all parties involved in the conflict to take effective measures immediately to reduce harm to civilians, stop all attacks targeting civilians and civilian facilities, and ensure that humanitarian aid can enter Sudan without obstruction in all regions.
