Portugal holds second round of presidential elections.

On February 8th, local time, Portugal held the second round of voting for the new term of presidential elections. According to the results of the first round of voting, the center-left Socialist Party candidate, Antnio Seguro, and the leader of the far-right party "That's Enough", Andr Ventura, entered the final round. In the first round of voting, neither candidate received more than half of the valid votes. According to the Portuguese Constitution, the president is elected directly by the people, and the candidate who receives a simple majority in the second round of voting will be elected president. The president serves a 5-year term and can be re-elected for one more term. The current president, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, will finish his second term on March 9th, and the newly elected president is expected to be sworn in on the same day.
