Chinese Basketball Association: Will establish a mechanism for punishing violations and infractions in mass sports events, implementing a "one vote veto" for provinces and cities that have serious issues with sports ethics and discipline during the event.
On February 7th, the Chinese Basketball Association website issued a notice on further strengthening the safety supervision of mass sports events. The notice pointed out that the Chinese Basketball Association and its member units will establish a mechanism for punishment of violations and disciplinary actions in mass sports events. Provinces and cities where serious violations of sportsmanship and discipline, such as fighting and harming referees, occur during the event, will be subject to "veto power", and violators and their local units will not be allowed to arrange basketball games for a certain period of time. All units should strengthen accountability and coordination. If serious safety accidents or serious violations of sportsmanship and discipline occur due to neglect of supervision or insufficient rectification, relevant units and individuals will be held accountable. All relevant units are required to implement the requirements of this notice, conduct comprehensive inspections and rectifications of all kinds of basketball events planned in their jurisdiction before and after the Spring Festival and during the "Two Sessions", address safety management deficiencies, optimize event management, and effectively ensure the safety and smooth running of the events.
