The first-instance verdict of the bribery case of Wang Xianling, the former member of the Standing Committee of the Thirteenth National People's Congress of Shandong Province, was publicly pronounced.

On February 6, the Intermediate People's Court of Dongying City, Shandong Province publicly sentenced the former deputy of the 13th Shandong Provincial People's Congress, Wang Xianling, for bribery. The defendant Wang Xianling was sentenced to ten years in prison for the crime of bribery, and fined 600,000 RMB. The illegal gains from bribery and interest shall be confiscated and turned over to the national treasury. The court found that from October 2010 to December 2020, the defendant Wang Xianling used his positions as a member of the Weifang Municipal Party Committee, Deputy Mayor, member of the Municipal Government Party Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Working Committee of the Weifang High-tech Industrial Development Zone, Party Committee Secretary and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Shandong Rural Credit Union, and Secretary and Director of the Party Committee of the Shandong Provincial Tax Bureau of the State Administration of Taxation to seek benefits for others in project contracting, job promotion, etc., by abusing his authority or power, directly or through the acts of other national staff members, and illegally accepting more than 6.88 million RMB.
