UK Health and Social Welfare Minister Wes Strein announced the launch of the National Cancer Plan on the 4th. For the first time, the UK National Health System will commit that from 2035, three out of every four newly diagnosed cancer patients will either overcome cancer or live a normal life with the disease under control within five years. The UK government said in a statement that this would be the government's first quantified commitment to the long-term survival of cancer patients. This means that "an additional 320,000 lives will be saved" during the implementation period of this plan.
