Yang Hui, former secretary of the Guizhou Provincial Health and Health Commission Party Committee, was sentenced to fourteen years and three months in prison for taking bribes totaling more than 54.48 million yuan in the first instance.

On February 5, the Intermediate People's Court of Anshun City, Guizhou Province, publicly announced the first-instance verdict of the case of bribery by Yang Hui, former party secretary of Guizhou Provincial Health Commission. The defendant Yang Hui was sentenced to fourteen years and three months in prison for the crime of bribery, and fined two million yuan. The illegal gains and interest obtained by Yang Hui through bribery shall be recovered and turned over to the national treasury in accordance with the law. According to the investigation, from 2017 to 2024, the defendant Yang Hui took advantage of his positions as secretary of the Party Committee and deputy director of the Guizhou Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention, member of the Party committee and deputy director of the Guizhou Provincial Health and Family Planning Commission, member of the Party committee and deputy director of the Guizhou Provincial Health Commission, and secretary of the Party committee of the Guizhou Provincial Health Commission to provide assistance to relevant units and individuals in matters such as procurement of medical equipment, undertaking of engineering projects, and job transfers, illegally accepting a total of more than 54.48 million yuan in money and goods.
