Thai media reported that Cambodia fired grenades into Thai territory, but the Cambodian Defense Ministry denied this.
Thai media quoted a report from the Thai Second Army Region announcing that Cambodia fired a mortar shell at a military base in the Thai province of Si Sa Ket on the Thai-Cambodian border that day. A spokesperson for the Cambodian Ministry of Defense, Mari Sajjad, denied the report. According to Thai media, the Thai Second Army Region issued a statement saying that on the 5th at 10:18 local time, the Cambodian side fired a 40mm mortar shell, hitting a military base in Si Sa Ket province, Thailand, with no casualties. The statement said that Thailand contacted Cambodia about this, and Cambodia responded that it was an accident, caused by soldiers newly deployed to the area violating discipline, and the relevant personnel have been dealt with. Mari Sajjad stated in a press release that Cambodia vehemently denies the report from Thai media. She said, "The liaison teams of the Fourth Military Region of Cambodia and the Second Army Region of Thailand have contacted each other and confirmed that the situation reported by Thai media does not exist." She reiterated that Cambodia will fully respect and implement the ceasefire agreement and other agreements reached between the two countries.
