Portugal's economy minister Almeida said that, according to the government's initial estimates, the direct cost of rebuilding from last week's devastating storm "Christine" will exceed 4 billion euros. The storm swept through central Portugal in the early hours of January 31st, with wind speeds exceeding 200 kilometers per hour and accompanied by heavy rainfall, causing widespread damage to houses, factories, and critical infrastructure, leading to at least 6 deaths. The Leiria-Marinha Grande industrial zone, known for its plastic and metal processing industry, is one of the most severely affected areas.
