Today is World Cancer Day, the establishment of this global health day aims to promote cancer research and encourage people to prevent, detect, and treat cancer. Experts point out that in recent years, the incidence of cancer in Yemen has been abnormally increasing, with complex reasons. This mainly includes the use of weapons and explosives during long-term wars, causing radiation and chemical pollution to civilians; the excessive use of highly toxic pesticides banned internationally in farmlands; wars leading to the deterioration of infrastructure, seriously aging water supply and sewage systems; and the accumulation of waste causing soil and groundwater pollution. Organizations such as the World Health Organization believe that it is difficult to accurately estimate the number of new cancer cases in Yemen each year, but it is estimated that 50% to 60% of patients lose their lives due to poverty, lack of medication, and other reasons.
