Counterpoint: Broadcom and TSMC could become the big winners in custom chip design.
Counterpoint predicts that Broadcom will increase its market share in customized chips to 60% next year. At the same time, as the leading choice for customized chip foundries, the company has almost completely taken over wafer manufacturing orders from the top ten global data center and ASIC customers, with a market share close to 99%. Counterpoint therefore forecasts that after NVIDIA dominates the general-purpose GPU stage, the second stage of the artificial intelligence chip boom will turn into intense competition between ASIC and GPU, with Broadcom and TSMC likely to emerge as the biggest winners.
