Han Wenxiu, Deputy Director of the State Council's Office of Finance, who is responsible for daily work, and Director of the Central Agricultural Office, said at a State Council press conference on the 4th that in terms of China's current food security situation, it can be summarized in three sentences: The first sentence is "overall secure". Despite frequent and severe natural disasters in recent years, China's grain has been abundant for many years. By 2025, China's per capita grain possession will reach 508.9 kilograms, far exceeding the international recognized safety line of 400 kilograms. Grain and other important agricultural products are abundant, the market is stable, and reserves are sufficient. It can be said that after years of continuous effort and investment, China's agricultural production infrastructure, mechanical equipment, and technological conditions have all been significantly improved compared to the past, ensuring a solid foundation for stable and abundant grain production. The second sentence is "tight balance between production and demand". Currently, grain consumption is decreasing, but feed grain consumption is increasing. In the future, the total demand for grain will continue to grow, and the overall tight balance between supply and demand in China has not changed. We must maintain a clear understanding of this. The third sentence is "no slackening of responsibility". From historical experience, it is easy for grain production to decline but difficult to increase. Especially in the current accelerated evolution of the world's century-long changes, the issue of food security must always be taken seriously. We must not be complacent and lax just because there is an abundant harvest or increased production now, and we must resolutely maintain control over food security.
