AirBorneo Airlines in Malaysia orders 8 ATR airplanes.
On February 3rd, Malaysia's AirBorneo Airlines and ATR announced the establishment of a strategic partnership to jointly promote the modernization and upgrading of Malaysia's rural air service fleet. AirBorneo has confirmed orders for 8 ATR aircraft, including 5 ATR72-600s and 3 ATR42-600s, with the option to purchase an additional 4 aircraft. The aircraft are expected to be delivered between 2027 and 2029. AirBorneo is Malaysia's first state-owned airline, fully owned by the Sarawak state government, currently operating to 21 destinations, with main hubs in Kota Kinabalu and Miri.
