After the American artificial intelligence company Anthropic launched a tool targeting corporate internal legal teams, the stock prices of European legal software and publishing companies fell. Both the LexCorp Group and the Weco Group saw their stock prices drop by over 10% after Anthropic released the tool on its GitHub page. The Pearson Group's stock price also declined. Anthropic stated that its tool can automate various legal tasks, including contract review, processing of confidentiality agreements, writing briefs, and templating responses. However, the company also cautioned that the plugin does not provide legal advice. "AI-generated analysis should be reviewed by qualified attorneys before being used for legal decisions," the company said.
