Disney focuses on developing existing IP rather than acquiring more.
Disney CEO Iger told analysts on a conference call that the ongoing battle between Paramount and Netflix over Warner Bros exploration should highlight the huge value of intellectual property to investors. Iger, who has orchestrated multiple deals to expand Disney's IP during his tenure as CEO, said the company is currently not interested in acquiring more assets. Instead, Disney is focusing on enhancing the value of its existing IP through investments in various businesses, such as building a "Frozen"-themed area in its Paris park. Iger also said, "The Zootopia area in Shanghai is huge in both scale and value," adding, "The proportion of visitors to Shanghai Disneyland specifically for the Zootopia area is very, very high."
