The Macao Special Administrative Region Government has completed the discussion on the draft law of the "Macao Special Administrative Region Safeguarding National Security Committee".

Journalists learned from the press conference held by the Macao SAR Executive Council on the 2nd that the Executive Council has completed the discussion on the draft law of the "Macao Special Administrative Region National Security Maintenance Committee", and the relevant bill will be submitted to the SAR Legislative Assembly for deliberation. The Executive Council stated that safeguarding national security is a constitutional responsibility of the Macao SAR. Under the overall national security perspective, the Macao SAR, through the amendment to Administrative Regulation No. 47/2021 of Administrative Regulation No. 22/2018 "Macao Special Administrative Region National Security Maintenance Committee", the Macao SAR National Security Maintenance Committee assists the Chief Executive of the SAR in making decisions on national security affairs in the Macao SAR and is responsible for implementing overall coordination work. In order to improve the legal system for safeguarding national security, strengthen the top-level framework of the national security system, there is a current need to comprehensively regulate the basic system of responsibilities, composition, and operations of the National Security Committee in legal form, in order to firmly safeguard national sovereignty, security, and development interests, build a solid national security barrier, and maintain social stability.
