According to informed sources, the board of directors of Walt Disney Company has reached a consensus on promoting Josh D'Amaro, the chairman of the theme park department, to the position of CEO, and will vote on the appointment of the new CEO next week. 54-year-old Josh D'Amaro has been in charge of Disney's core profit-generating theme park business since 2020. If this appointment is approved, he will succeed Bob Iger as the new CEO of Disney; Iger served as the CEO of this global entertainment giant from 2005 to 2020, and returned to lead the company in 2022. There is still a possibility of a change in leadership within the board of directors. A Disney spokesperson stated in an email declaration, "The board of directors has not yet selected the next CEO of Walt Disney Company, once a decision is made, we will immediately announce it." This appointment will also mark the end of a three-year CEO selection process at Disney, which has been led by the chairman of the Disney board, James Gorman, since 2024. According to informed sources, Disney CEO Iger has informed those around him that he plans to resign from the CEO position before his contract expires on December 31 and will no longer be involved in day-to-day management.
