The fierce battle for the hundred billion-level consumer market is heating up. Who will reap the benefits of the Spring Festival outbound tourism?
On January 30, the Chinese Embassy in Japan once again reminded Chinese citizens to avoid traveling to Japan in the near future. Undoubtedly, Chinese tourists traveling to Japan will continue to be affected. Data from the professional aviation website AeroRoutes shows that in February and March 2026, the overall reduction in flights on the China-Japan route has exceeded 60%. In February, the number of one-way flights from Chinese airlines to Japan has decreased from 4508 to 1783, a reduction of 60.5%. In March, the reduction is even greater at 63.4%. Due to the decrease in flights by Chinese airlines, the number of flights between China and Japan at Kansai Airport in Osaka has plummeted by 73%. Attention is now turning to other destinations. Qi Chunguang, vice president of Tuniu Travel, told reporters from 21st Century Economic News that the Spring Festival this year is longer than usual, making long-haul outbound travel very popular.
