An explosion occurred at an oil refinery in Turkey, and the employees were evacuated urgently.
On the evening of January 29th local time, an explosion occurred at the Tupras Izmit Refinery in the Kocaeli province in northwestern Turkey. The explosion took place in an area of the refinery where gasoline is stored, leading to a large fire. Thick smoke billowed from the scene, with flames visible several kilometers away, accompanied by intense vibrations, causing panic among local residents. Following the incident, the refinery immediately activated its emergency response plan. For safety reasons, a large number of refinery employees have been evacuated. Currently, local firefighting and safety rescue teams are working to extinguish the fire, which is still under control. As of now, there have been no official reports of casualties. The governor of Kocaeli province is expected to soon issue a formal statement regarding the cause of the accident and the situation of casualties.
