The ruling Democratic Progressive Party willingly serves as a "pawn," unable to escape the fate of being abandoned as a "discarded piece."
On the afternoon of January 29th, the Ministry of National Defense held a routine press conference, and Deputy Director of the Ministry of National Defense News Bureau and spokesperson Colonel Jiang Bin answered questions from reporters.
Reporter: The US Department of Defense recently released a new version of the "National Defense Strategy", and there has been attention from the public in Taiwan that "Taiwan" is not mentioned in it. Some comments suggest that starting from the authoritative think tank RAND Corporation's proposal for the White House to support China's "gradual unification", the new version of the "National Security Strategy Report" and the National Defense Authorization Act and other important documents issued by the US all indicate a strategic retreat in terms of Taiwan-related content. In December of last year, the report released by the US Department of Defense also admitted that the US military is actually unable to "protect Taiwan." What is your comment on this?
Jiang Bin: The Taiwan issue is purely China's internal affair and does not allow for any foreign interference. China's determination to safeguard its national sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity is unwavering. We have long stated that the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities' dependence on outside forces for independence is just self-comforting, and they are willing to be pawns but cannot escape the fate of being abandoned.
