On January 29th, the State Council Information Office held a press conference on the situation and work arrangement of the 2026 Spring Festival Travel Rush. Zhu Wenzhong, Director of the Passenger Transport Department of China Railway Group, introduced that China Railway has been committed to providing warmer services to passengers. Previously, the railway department has issued a series of new initiatives to facilitate and benefit passengers, covering multiple aspects. Zhu Wenzhong stated that in terms of optimizing the travel environment, the railway department has expanded the implementation of quiet carriages to over 8000 sets of high-speed trains. In terms of ticketing services, for the first time, a manual phone ticket booking service has been introduced for passengers over 60 years of age, and a policy of allowing limited time free ticket refunds for mistaken purchases has also been introduced. To meet personalized needs, the trial of high-speed pet transport services has expanded to 110 stations and 170 trains. To further alleviate the inconvenience for passengers carrying luggage while traveling, the trial of "door-to-station" and "door-to-door" luggage delivery services has been expanded to cover 111 stations. Considering the actual needs of ski enthusiasts, the trial of the "ski gear convenience service" has been introduced on the Beijing-Zhangjiakou high-speed rail and some trains in the northeastern region, to meet the diverse travel needs of passengers. The related services have specific logos and entrances on the 12306 app for passengers to easily find and use. In terms of fare discounts, further discounts have been provided for less popular directions, and the discount policies have been expanded to more train routes, allowing passengers to benefit more. In addition, Zhu Wenzhong mentioned that the railway department will continue to improve services, for example, addressing the platform waiting conditions that passengers are particularly concerned about, by gradually adding platform seats at over 500 busy stations. Considering the charging needs of passengers, more free charging facilities will be added to major passenger stations.
