Turkey busts spy network linked to Iran, 6 people arrested
On January 28th local time, it was reported by the central television station that the Turkish National Intelligence Agency and the police launched a joint operation in five provinces, successfully breaking up a spy network commanded by the Iranian intelligence department, and arresting a total of 6 criminal suspects. The arrest operation was centered in Istanbul, and simultaneously carried out in five provinces including the Van province on the Turkey-Iran border. The 6 arrested individuals include two senior executives of defense industry companies, two textile industry businessmen, one Iranian national, and one member responsible for recruitment on the border. They have been charged with "engaging in political or military espionage activities" by the Istanbul court and are currently in custody.
