United Parcel Service (UPS) plans to lay off up to 30,000 employees this year.
On January 28th, it was reported that the United Parcel Service (UPS) plans to cut as many as 30,000 positions this year. The parcel delivery company is continuing its business transformation and gradually reducing the volume of Amazon packages it delivers. According to reports, UPS Chief Financial Officer Brian Dykes stated during the company's earnings call on the 27th that the layoffs will be achieved through offering voluntary severance packages to full-time drivers as well as natural attrition. He added that UPS also plans to close 24 operational facilities in the first half of this year and is evaluating more facilities for potential closure in the future.
