The State Council has removed Zeng Guowei from the position of Director of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government's Political System and Mainland Affairs Bureau.

In accordance with the relevant provisions of the Basic Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, following the recommendation of the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Carrie Lam, the State Council decided on January 27, 2026 to relieve Tsang Kwok-wai of his duties as Director of the Central Government's Liaison Office in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
