As airlines work to recover flight operations following a strong winter storm, American travelers are preparing for continued travel disruptions as the new work week begins. The number of flight cancellations caused by this storm has hit a new high since the COVID-19 pandemic. According to FlightAware data, as of 9 am New York time on Monday morning, nearly 3,900 flights have been canceled. Previously, on Sunday, around 11,600 flights were canceled, as this most severe storm in years has covered large areas of the southern and mid-Atlantic regions of the U.S. with ice and snow, leading to some of the busiest domestic air hubs essentially being paralyzed.
