British Prime Minister Keir Starmer's competitors are looking for excuses to launch a leadership challenge. Starmer blocked a potential challenger over the weekend, but this move may have given others a reason to strike. On Sunday, Starmer's allies prevented Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham from standing as the Labour candidate in the upcoming Gordon and Denton by-election, preventing him from entering parliament. Without a seat, he cannot challenge for the position of Prime Minister. Starmer said on Monday that this was done in order to prioritize the crucial May local elections for the Labour Party, and to avoid expensive new mayoral campaign in Manchester.
