Shanxi Yanquan Publicizes the Investigation Report of the "317" Major Collapse Accident of Shanxi Luqiao Fifth Engineering Co., Ltd.

On January 26, the Emergency Management Bureau of Yangquan City, Shanxi Province, released the "Investigation Report on the Major Collapse Accident of Yangquan Pingding Shanxi Road and Bridge Fifth Engineering Co., Ltd. on March 17". The investigation pointed out that the direct cause of the accident was the loader illegally driving and parking in the backfill area of the foundation pit retaining wall, causing an increase in backfill pressure. In addition, the foundation pit retaining wall had shallow buried depth, leading to the collapse of the retaining wall and the burial of 5 workers. The investigation recommended that 2 relevant responsible persons be transferred to the judicial authorities for legal handling, 1 person be exempt from accountability, 10 persons be given disciplinary actions, 6 persons be given disciplinary actions and administrative penalties, and 7 other persons be dealt with. At 5:50 p.m. on March 17, 2025, a retaining wall collapse accident occurred at the construction site of the Niejiazhuang 2# Mixing Station of the Taiyue Expressway reconstruction and expansion project under construction by Shanxi Road and Bridge Fifth Engineering Co., Ltd., resulting in 5 deaths and a direct economic loss of approximately 823.11 million yuan.
