Chongqing Customs announced on the 25th that the first batch of imported bananas for inspection and quarantine at the designated inspection and quarantine site through the Western Land-Sea New Channel railway-to-sea intermodal transport has arrived in Chongqing on the 24th. This means that, following Thai coconut, the variety of fruits subject to inspection and quarantine at the designated inspection and quarantine site through the Western Land-Sea New Channel "direct to Chongqing Fruit Port" has been further expanded. "In recent years, the demand for high-quality imported fruits from Southeast Asia has been growing." The person in charge of the Chongqing Intermodal Development Limited Company of the Land-Sea New Channel introduced that the railway-to-sea intermodal transport designated inspection and quarantine mode has realized the import of cold chain original boxes, compared to traditional customs clearance at ports and then transportation by car to the mainland. The transportation is more stable, with full process temperature control and traceability, monitored data, further reducing physical damage during shipping, effectively ensuring the quality of bananas, and saving about 16% of overall logistics costs such as loading and unloading compared to before.
