German police union calls for police to be equipped with stun guns.
German media reports that in 2025, German police killed 17 people with gunfire, which is higher than the annual average. The German Police Union has called for all officers to be equipped with taser guns to replace live ammunition firearms in order to reduce similar incidents. On the 24th, the Associated Press cited statistics from the Humboldt University of Berlin's "Civil Rights and Police" magazine, reporting that the number of people killed by police gunfire in 2025 was lower than the historic high of 25 in 2024, but still higher than the annual average.
