Trump: Europe will face major retaliation if it sells American assets.
Recently, there has been a continuous conflict between the United States and Europe regarding issues such as the "island grabbing" dispute and threats of tariffs. Selling off American assets is seen as one of the possible retaliatory measures that Europe may take. In response to this, President Trump warned during an interview in Davos, Switzerland on the 22nd that if Europe were to sell American assets, it would provoke retaliation from the United States. In order to downplay the impact of these divestment actions, US Treasury Secretary Mnuchin chose to minimize their significance. On the 21st, during the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos, Mnuchin stated, "Denmark's investment in US bonds is as insignificant as Denmark itself." Mnuchin said that he is not worried about Europe withdrawing from the US bond market.
