Qualified foreign nationals can use the "cooperative inspection self-service channel" at the Zhuhai-Macau Port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge.
To implement the "Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area," the Macao Public Security Police Force, the Macao Security Forces Affairs Bureau, and the Zhuhai Immigration Inspection General Station continue to deepen cooperation, actively promote the application of technology, focus on building intelligent ports, comprehensively improve clearance efficiency and service quality, facilitate the travel of people in the Greater Bay Area, and help Macao further integrate into the national development plan. Starting from October 28, 2024, the border inspection departments of Macao and Zhuhai will pilot an expansion of the "cooperative inspection self-service channel" at the Hengqin Port, adding three categories of foreign passport holders who can use this channel. Data shows that in the entire year of 2025, a total of 34,000 people with foreign passports passed through the Hengqin Port using the "cooperative inspection self-service channel."
Based on the smooth operation of the relevant measures at the Hengqin Port, which helps foreign nationals to move across regions, the border inspection departments of Macao and Zhuhai have decided, following consultations, to extend this measure to the "cooperative inspection self-service channel" at the Zhuhai-Macao Port of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge starting from January 26, 2026, for the same categories of foreign passport holders. The conditions are the same as those at the Hengqin Port: 1) being over 7 years old and over 1.2 meters tall, holding a foreign passport and a Permanent Resident Identity Card of the People's Republic of China, and meeting the conditions for exemption from visas and advance entry permits to enter Macao for foreign nationals; 2) being over 7 years old and over 1.2 meters tall, holding a foreign electronic passport and having a residence permit in the People's Republic of China for more than 6 months, and meeting the conditions for exemption from visas and advance entry permits to enter Macao for foreign nationals; 3) being over 7 years old and over 1.2 meters tall, holding a Macao Resident Identity Card and one of the following documents as a foreign Macao resident: - foreign passport; - foreign electronic passport; - foreign electronic passport.
Foreign nationals who meet the above conditions need to register for the self-service clearance in the border inspection of both regions in advance. Foreign nationals who are already able to use the "cooperative inspection self-service channel" at the Hengqin Port can use the "cooperative inspection self-service channel" in the Zhuhai-Macao Immigration Inspection Hall of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge starting from the implementation date of this measure, without the need for re-registration, and can directly use the "single queue, single card reading, single collection of biometric information" fast clearance service, effectively reducing the waiting time for inspection. In addition, foreign nationals who meet the conditions can also use the "two-gate" self-service channel at the customs gates, outer and inner harbor ferry terminals, airport, and the Zhuhai-Macao Immigration Inspection Hall of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge after completing the self-service clearance registration in Macao.
