United Nations report: for every $1 invested in protecting nature, $30 are spent on destroying it.

On January 22, the United Nations released the "2026 Natural Capital Financing Status" report, which pointed out that for every $1 invested in protecting nature, $30 is used to destroy it. The report calls for significant adjustments to related policies, expanding the scale of solutions that are both beneficial to natural ecosystems and supportive of economic development. In response to this report, Inger Andersen, Executive Director of the UN Environment Programme, said: "If you pay attention to where the money is flowing, you can understand the magnitude of the challenges we face." In contrast, progress on nature-based solutions is slow, while harmful investments and subsidies are rapidly increasing.
