The Communist Party of Vietnam elects the fourteenth Central Committee.
The 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam elected the 14th Central Committee on the 22nd, with the current General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Nguyen Phu Trong, being elected as a member of the new Central Committee. The 14th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam is composed of 200 people, including 180 members and 20 alternate members. In addition to Nguyen Phu Trong, the Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam, Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, and the current Executive Secretary of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Tran Quoc Vuong, are also among the members of the new Central Committee. According to a news bulletin released by the 14th Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam on the 22nd, the 1st Plenum of the 14th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam will be held on the 23rd, and the closing time of the Congress was moved up from the originally scheduled date of the 25th to the 23rd. The 14th Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam officially opened on the 20th in the capital, Hanoi, with 1586 delegates representing the over 5.6 million members of the Party in attendance.
