Not allowing third parties to export WeChat chat records? Tencent responds: Some open source projects bypass encryption measures, compromising the privacy and security of users.

On January 22nd, Tencent responded that some open-source projects that access WeChat chat records do so by reverse engineering the WeChat client and cracking the local database encryption key to bypass the encryption measures of the WeChat client, posing a threat to user and third-party data privacy and client security, and easily exploited by criminal activities. Tencent stated that they have requested the removal of these projects from the open-source platform in accordance with relevant regulations and have received support from the platform. Most projects have voluntarily removed the infringing content after communication with the platform.
