On January 21, 2026, the city's transportation work conference was held. At the meeting, it was reported by the Municipal Transportation Commission that 2026 is the beginning of the "Fifteenth Five-Year Plan." Beijing's transportation will focus on its role as the "lifeline of the capital," aiming for convenient, smooth, green, intelligent, and safe transportation. The strategy will emphasize integration, network building, optimization, intensive use, and efficiency improvement, accelerating the construction of a comprehensive transportation system that is user-friendly, flow-efficient, and safe. The goal is to increase the proportion of green travel in the central urban area to 76.8% and ensure that urban transportation operates safely, smoothly, and orderly. This year, efforts will be made to further integrate transportation in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. The scale of "hard connection" will be expanded, with the opening of Metro Line 22, the promotion of the Xiong'an R1 Line connecting with the Daxing Airport Line, and the acceleration of the construction of projects such as the western extension of the Beijing-Qinhuangdao Expressway and the Beijing section of National Highway 335.
