On January 20th local time, Mexican Secretary of Security Omar Garcia announced that 37 detainees suspected of organized crime had been transferred to the United States that morning. Garcia posted on social media that the operation was carried out in accordance with national security laws and within the framework of Mexico-US cooperation mechanisms. Garcia stated that since taking office, the current Mexican government has transferred 92 "important criminals" to the United States, preventing them from causing violence in Mexico. According to Mexican sources, the detainees transferred included members of drug trafficking groups such as "Sinaloa" and "Jalisco New Generation". This is the third time since February 2025 that the Mexican government has transferred detained members of drug trafficking groups to the United States.
