During the World Economic Forum held in Davos, Switzerland this week, White House Chief Technology Advisor Kratsios criticized the European Union's artificial intelligence regulations. Kratsios stated, "I will continue to remind my colleagues in the technology sector how they can create a regulatory environment conducive to the flourishing of artificial intelligence to ensure they do not rush to impose cumbersome and completely failed regulations like the EU's artificial intelligence law." Kratsios believes that the Trump administration's lenient approach to regulating artificial intelligence is the way to succeed. The EU's "Artificial Intelligence Act" imposes different requirements on relevant companies based on the risks posed by their artificial intelligence products. Companies like OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic are required to conduct extensive risk assessments and reporting as their powerful core models are most likely to pose serious or "systemic" risks to society.
