US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin suggested that potential restrictions proposed by Trump on defense companies may be relaxed in the next two to three years, provided that these companies increase production to fulfill contracts more quickly. "Once their backlog returns to some kind of normal level, I don't know if it's two years or three years, at that point we can discuss lifting these restrictions," Mnuchin said in an interview with Fox Business Network's Maria Bartiromo during the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland on Tuesday. Mnuchin defended Trump's pressure on defense companies. Previously, the Trump administration criticized these companies for not producing military equipment quickly enough and for not properly maintaining this equipment. The Treasury Secretary stated that these companies "are five, six, seven years behind in fulfilling contracts."
