On January 20th, Vice Premier of the State Council and member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, He Lifeng attended the 2026 World Economic Forum annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland and delivered a speech. He Lifeng stated that in January 2017, President Xi Jinping delivered an important speech at the Davos Forum, and China has been earnestly implementing and firmly supporting multilateralism and free trade. In recent years, President Xi Jinping has successively proposed four major global initiatives, providing Chinese solutions to common problems facing the world. He Lifeng presented four opinions at the forum: Firstly, firm support for free trade and jointly promote inclusive economic globalization. Secondly, firm defense of multilateralism and promotion of a more just and reasonable international economic and trade order. Thirdly, to uphold win-win cooperation, to work together to expand cooperation and tackle development challenges. Fourthly, to adhere to mutual respect, equality and consultation to properly manage disputes and solve problems. He Lifeng also introduced the situation of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, emphasizing that China's development will bring important opportunities to the world, and had in-depth exchanges with international business leaders. During the forum, He Lifeng met with Swiss Federal President Parmelin and Vice President Cassis, conveying President Xi Jinping's warm greetings and expressing China's willingness to strengthen high-level exchanges and deepen bilateral and multilateral cooperation with Switzerland. The Swiss side expressed their expectation to accelerate the negotiations for upgrading the free trade agreement with China, and to jointly support multilateralism and free trade. He Lifeng also agreed to hold separate meetings with U.S. Treasury Secretary Yellen and UK Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak to exchange views on relevant issues in the fields of economy and trade between China and the U.S., and China and the UK, as the leaders of the China-U.S. Economic and Trade Consultation Mechanism and the China-UK Economic and Financial Dialogue Mechanism.
